A ticket is tied to a specific train, departure station and time, so verify all three before travel.
What KTX is
KTX is Korea’s principal high-speed rail service on major corridors. It is best evaluated as a station-to-station option, not only by the time printed between departure and arrival.
Major journey patterns
Seoul–Busan is the best-known corridor, with other routes serving cities such as Daejeon, Daegu, Gyeongju and points in the southwest. Verify that the selected service stops at the station you need.
Booking and boarding
Use the KORAIL official service or an authorized seller, then check the exact station, train and departure time. Arrive early enough to find the platform; boarding procedures are simpler than airport security but the train will not wait.
Plan the station transfer
Include subway, bus, taxi and walking time at both ends. A faster KTX can still be less practical if its station is far from the day’s destination.
Before you act
- Confirm the full station name.
- Check whether the train stops at that station.
- Add local transfer time at both ends.

KTX Guide: Stations, Tickets and Transfers FAQ
Do I need to validate a reserved KTX ticket?
Follow the instructions on the official ticket or app and keep it available for inspection.
Can I stand on a sold-out reserved service?
Do not assume so. Buy only the ticket type offered by the official booking system for that train.
