Use Seoul as one base and choose Busan, Gyeongju or Jeju only when the transport fits the trip.
Days 1–3: make Seoul coherent
Use one day for historic Jongno, one for central or riverside Seoul, and one for a chosen modern district. Keeping a stable base saves check-in time.
Days 4–5: choose one contrasting region
Busan offers coast and markets, Gyeongju focuses on heritage, while Jeju requires flights and island transport. Do not add all three to a five-day trip.
Count the transfer honestly
Include hotel departure, station or airport access, waiting, the main journey and the final local connection. A two-night second base is only worthwhile when the travel tradeoff matches the priority.
Weather can choose the order
Compare current conditions for both bases. Move the intercity leg or exposed activities only when bookings allow it; do not improvise around unverified camera impressions.
Before you act
- Pick one second region.
- Book the fixed intercity leg.
- Keep each city organized by district.
- Avoid a same-day return unless it is genuinely efficient.

5 Days in Korea: Seoul Plus One Region FAQ
Is Jeju easy to add for one night?
Usually it creates disproportionate airport and island-transfer time. Give Jeju enough time or choose a rail-connected region.
Busan or Gyeongju for two days?
Choose Busan for coast and urban markets; choose Gyeongju for a heritage-focused route.
